kiran nigamThrough my facilitation, consulting, and nutrition offerings, I aim to fortify movements and communities so that we may be more effective and joyful in creating a just and healing world.
My experience living with hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) fueled my interest in functional nutrition (and other complementary and integrative healing practices) and led me in 2017 to become certified as a Nutritional Therapy Consultant (NTC) and open a nutrition practice. I believe food is one of our most ancient forms of medicine and magic, and that our ancestral food ways are the accumulation of thousands of years of wisdom. I offer classes on nutrition (utilizing food, plants, supplements, and lifestyle shifts to support wellbeing) with a focus on supporting people with bendy bodies (people who live with hypermobility, HSD and hEDS). My goal is to help you feel better. I am committed to a practice that is absolutely, unfalteringly welcoming of people of color, trans, gender nonconforming, and queer people, and bodies of all sizes, shapes, and abilities. I understand the traumas that can come with holding these identities and trying to navigate health care providers. I will respect your food traditions. I will respect your gender identity. I will not body shame you. I will support you in figuring out strategies that work for your ability, your body, and your reality. I was a founding member and worker-owner of AORTA for 8 years, and have served on the boards of 5 non-profits. I give on average 150 hours of pro bono work each year to organizations, community groups, and individuals building the world I want to live in and/or harmed by systemic violence and oppression. I live in Ohlone land and call Huichin/Oakland home. A Virgo magician and nerd, I love growing and cooking food and am a parent to a luminous toddler. fortifycommunityhealth.com |
